God Don’t Like It – Queen of Hoxton
Extradition Order
Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences
Speak & Spells
Extradition Order seem to be getting ever better. As I have remarked in the past their lead singer finds himself in a place of conversion. Conversion into a form of possession – This is the first and essential purpose of a good live act. If one can travel with the music into another realm and the audience and witnesses can sense this, they in turn are aided to loosing themselves into the fluffy land of asteroid and imagination. As the Order get better their ability to allow the listener to free up and dance increases. A trip to watch this band is advised to all interested in quirky, meaningful, rasping goodness.
Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences were once again a smashing obliteration of a sonic meteorite. They came and conquered by being tight enough to be both credible and chaotic and beautiful enough (musically I hasten to add) to allow for the transcendental.
Speak and Spells – I must apologise, by this point I was blind drunk, sorry a better description would be deaf drunk as I can not remember what they sounded like but I can remember how stylish one of them was – He looked like a cross between Napoleon Dynamite and Robin Gibb having stolen Detective Petrocelli’s wardrobe (He never did finish building that house did he?). So 10/10 for style points. It was then Selfish C**ts’ aftershow party. By which time I was blind and deaf drunk so I shall refrain from comment.
